Blizzard Confirms Hunter Auto-Shot Speed Boost in Forever Beta Is a Bug
Blizzard confirmed that a shorter cast time for Hunter Auto Shot and Wanding in the WoW: Forever beta is unintended and will be fixed in an upcoming build. Until then, Hunters and wand users can shoot noticeably faster than designed.
Datamined change spotted before Blizzard comment
On 2026-09-21, Wowhead reported that the hidden casting time behind Auto-Shot and Wanding had been reduced significantly in the WoW: Forever beta, based on third-party observation rather than any official statement. At that point the change was not confirmed as intentional or as a bug by Blizzard, leaving players to speculate about whether it was a deliberate class tuning adjustment or a technical error introduced during beta testing.
Blizzard says it's a bug, fix coming 'next week'
On 2026-09-23, Blizzard's Kaivax posted an official statement confirming the behavior is a bug. The normal 0.5-second cast time that precedes a Hunter's auto-shot or a wand use is not functioning properly, letting Hunters and wand users fire without stopping to shoot for as long as intended. Blizzard said the issue will be fixed in an upcoming Beta build, hopefully next week, according to Kaivax's post.
Outlets note the bug is a temporary buff
Following Blizzard's announcement, Wowhead and Icy Veins both republished the confirmation that the cast-time reduction is unintended. Icy Veins characterized it as a bug making auto-shoot 'a lot better' for now, encouraging players to make use of it before the fix lands, while Wowhead reiterated that Blizzard has classified the faster casting as unintended behavior slated for correction.
